Charity walks motivated me to walk with technique and now I'm a dedicated
Walkactive member!
I first discovered Walkactive through Woman and Home magazine I think, where we saw the
Walk Fit spa break featured last spring. As I was going to be walking 20 miles for Breast Cancer Care a couple of weeks later, this seemed like a great opportunity to prepare for the event and have some pampering!
"I found Joanna so motivating and engaging, and I took so much from those first few sessions about technique, posture and improving fitness that it inspired me to join the
Walkactive Club. I have always enjoyed walking but never realised how I could make my walks a complete workout and and by doing so, just how much of an impact it would make on my fitness and stamina.
Since October last year, I have been on a further spa break - a Walk off Weight break. This was really interesting as although I am ok with my weight, it changed some of the ways I view food and how I balance my meals. I am no longer scared of certain foods - if that makes sense.
I have completed monthly
Walk Time Trials at Hyde Park and recently reduced my walking time by 6 minutes over 7km which was a fantastic achievement for me. This weekend I will be walking 20 miles again in the Ribbon Walk around the South Downs and I will be really interested to see how my fitness has improved and how I will feel at the end - it will be a good yardstick against last year.
I find myself talking about Walkactive to anyone who will listen and enocouraging friends and family to walk! I look forward every month to the Time Trial not just on a fitness level, but meeting new people and seeing the park changing through the seasons. We even walked in the first snowfall of this year. As I have improved, Joanna has set new challenges and coached me on and her energy and passion for walking is contagious. I am also now part of the product testing panel which means I get to 'road test' new products and become involved by giving my feedback.
What more can we say? Linda is involved in all our walking events from
Spa Break, to becoming a fully fledged
Walkactive member and joining us on our monthly
Walk Time Trials so she really gets the most out of the way she moves. As well as investing in herself, she is using her technique to raise money for a fantastic charity. Well done Linda, you are a great inspiration!
